Ist unsere Politik ein Resultat soziologischer Wissenschaftsfehler?

Ist der ganze Politmist entstanden, weil Sozialwissenschaftler wissenschaftliche Kurpfuscher sind?

Dass zwischen zwei Hauptthemen meines Blogs, nämlich der absurden linken Politik und dem Wissenschaftsmurks und -schwindel der Soziologen, ein Zusammenhang besteht, drängte sich ja schon öfters auf. Ich habe aber geade einen Artikel gefunden, der das ebenfalls zusammenbringt.

Es geht um diesen Wissenschaftsmarsch, den die Soziologen veranstalten wollen. Dazu schreibt ein Clay Routledge, der hier, in einem Artikel, Why Social Scientists Should Not Participate in the March for Science und nimmt dabei ziemlich die Soziologen auseinander. Man sollte den ganzen Text lesen. Er schreibt, warum Soziologen sich von diesem „Wissenschaftsmarsch“ fernhalten sollen – mit Wissenschaft haben sie nicht viel zu tun.

Many have criticized social science research for being ideologically biased and, frankly, many of these criticisms are fair. For one, social scientists have spent decades using sloppy empirical methods, or no methods at all, to make the case that conservatives uniquely possess a number of undesirable personal characteristics (e.g., prejudice and intolerance). However, as I discussed in an article for Scientific American, recent studies reveal methodological flaws of past research and show that liberals are no more tolerant or nondiscriminatory than conservatives.

Moreover, a number of the psychological concepts social scientists and activists have used to support social justice-oriented interventions and policies have not stood up well to empirical scrutiny. Take, for instance, the concept of stereotype threat. Psychologists proposed that female math performance is undermined by the existence and situational awareness of the stereotype that women are bad at math. However, the stereotype threat explanation of women’s math performance has failed multiple replication attempts. Meta-analyses have offered no support for the idea. And the original supporting research has been widely criticized as having many methodological and statistical problems. Still, many social scientists, activists, and college administrators continue to teach and champion the idea. […]

The microagression concept is another example. Again, many academics, activists, and college administrators are enamored with it, without scientific justification. Psychology professor Scott O. Lilienfeld summed it up perfectly with the title of his very thorough article – Microaggressions: Strong Claims, Inadequate Evidence.

The truth is, some social scientists, though certainly not all of them, and many social activists and journalists have weaponized the social sciences for ideological warfare. This has created quite a mess. One way social scientists can stand up for science is to clean up this mess and dedicate ourselves to fighting ideological bias within our fields. […]

In addition, social science has its own internal “war on science” problem that few seem willing to confront. This problem results, in part, from the reckless use of the social science label. Not all of the social sciences use or support the scientific method. Even within a given field there is often a division between actual scientists and scholars who do not take a scientific approach to their research. Take, for instance, the field of sociology. There are certainly many empirical sociologists doing high quality empirical research. However, a sizable part of the discipline is part of the postmodern or social constructionist movement that rejects the use of quantitative methods. […]

Postmodernists also directly attack the scientific enterprise. Consider, for example, the “research as rape model” presented in sociological textbooks such as An Introduction to Sociology: Feminist Perspectives. The model proposes that conducting scientific research using human research participants is a form of research rape. […]

rofessors in postmodern fields such as gender studies are actively teaching ideas that are more conspiracy theory than scholarly research.

Er schreibt noch einiges mehr und schlussfolgert daraus, dass die Sozialwissenschaften erst mal bei sich sauber machen und sich wieder auf den Pfad der Wissenschaften begeben sollten, bevor sich auf „Wissenschaftsmärsche“ gehen.

Mir geht da aber etwas völlig anderes durch den Kopf.

Da ist ja noch viel mehr, der ganze Feminismus-Kram, Gender Pay Gap, Partriarchat und all das Zeugs, was so massiv unsere Politik beeinflusst, und von dem ja schon oft kritisiert wurde, dass das alles Unsinn ist.

Kann es sein, dass sich die (von mir oft geäußerte) Vermutung, dass der ganze Politquatsch, auf den sich unsere Politik und Presse gerade fast völlig reduzieren, wirklich systematisch und vollständig Produkte der Unwissenschaftlichkeit und Wissenschaftsfehler der Sozialwissenschaftler sind?

Bisher konnte man ja denken, dass der Niedergang unserer Universitäten Folge politischer Verblödung ist. Liegt der Schwerpunkt doch darauf, dass es andersherum sein könnte? Waren die 68er noch schlimmer als gedacht?

Ist unsere gesamte Politik ein Produkt des Wissenschaftspfusches inkompetenter Sozialwissenschaftler?

Ich fand das ja bei meinen bisherigen Untersuchungen des Feminismus und der Gender Studies immer so bemerkenswert, dass sie ständig für sich in Anspruch nehmen, dass sie so wissenschaftlich wären, so forschen, so viele wissenschaftliche Beweise hätten – und wenn man es nachprüft, ist da einfach gar nichts da. Nichts als Schwindel und Betrug. Nichts ist nachprüfbar.

Ist unsere gesamte Politik, dieses gesamtdeutsche linke politische Selbstverständnis, frei erfundener Blödsinn unfähiger Leute, die sich an den Universitäten festgefressen haben?

Ich glaube, das wird noch hochinteressant, ob man ihnen diesen Zahn ziehen kann oder ob wir alle in Schwindel, Hirngespinsten und Verschwörungstheorien ersaufen.

Was ich persönlich dabei so frappierend finde:

Dass man auf Irrtümer hereinfällt, vor allem, wenn sie verlockend sind, ist ja nichts neues, und nach meiner Überzeugung sogar unvermeidlich.

Dass man aber auf einen so schwachsinnigen, offenkundigen, hirnrissigen Blödsinn mit solcher Inbrunst, Ausdauer und Ausschließlichkeit hereinfällt, ist schon eine ziemliche Aussage über unser intellektuelles Niveau.
